Protestors
want Union government to pass legislation and take over administration of
Ashram.
Activists
of the CPI, CPI (M) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) on Wednesday
staged a demonstration in front of the head post office here demanding the
Union Government to enact a special Legislation to administer Sri Aurobindo
Ashram.
The
protestors alleged that mysterious deaths and sexual harassments allegedly had
been occurring in the Ashram and now three women had committed suicide after
being evicted from the premises.
CBI
probe
The
Puducherry government should order a CBI probe into the deaths. The Union
government should pass legislation and take over the administration of the
Ashram by appointing an IAS officer. The Left parties also demanded the
government to hand over the probe in the child sex racket and CENTAC scam to
the CBI.
They
also criticised the government for failing to take steps to write off the
entire debt of Puducherry which had gone up to Rs.6,300 crores.
